Ray de Bono, CEO of Dmax.tv, delivering the lecture with MIB management and staff
Mediterranean Insurance Brokers (MIB), Malta’s longest established and largest firm in its field, has just launched its Social Media Policy for staff and management.
Rob J.C. van Oijen, CEO, MIB
“Our company believes we should not only be an active Social Media player, but above all, an exemplary and responsible one” said Rob J.C. van Oijen, MIB’s CEO. “Our company wants to be at the cutting edge of Social Media in Malta, and we feel that our approach, hand-in-hand with our external advisors (Dmax.tv) and supported by our 50+ staff, will bear good fruits” he added.
Fiona Borg, Chief Operations Officer for Business Development, who is responsible for MIB’s Social Media project, thanked IT Manager Donna Abela for her research and work on the company guidelines preparation. Fiona explained how MIB Brokers wanted to make the best out of their Social Media presence, which together with the use of email marketing, is strengthening their website’s traffic and business overall .
This helpful document was presented to the company staff during the first in a series of Social Media Training sessions for MIB senior staff, conducted by Ray de Bono, CEO for Dmax.tv, a German-Maltese online services firm who manage MIB’s presence on LinkedIn and Twitter.
Employee use of Social Media has often become a controversial topic and for this reason MIB has introduced recommendations to safeguard and guide its personnel on how to deal with their daily Social Media experience. The policy document offers a series of staff do’s and don’ts in relation to engagement criteria and netiquette on LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook.
In view of the growing prevalence of Social Media platforms across many aspects of our social, business or career life, MIB is also organising a series of informative sessions for its personnel, in collaboration with Dmax.tv, to enable them to get a deeper understanding of the different platforms’ uses and technologies.
“As with all finance industry players, Social Media has opened a wide array of opportunities for Insurance companies and professionals. LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook are essential channels through which one can expand and deepen his/her networking prowess, engage with contacts, nurture business leads and build brand identity” said Ray de Bono whilst introducing the training programme.
He explained how these Social Media platforms have provided an immediacy which is nowadays taken for granted. He went on to express how the growing importance and validity of these media had impacted the business sector. Mr de Bono spoke about the need to create an internal discussion about the relentless developments of Social Platforms and their far reaching influence of the client’s decision making processes. He illustrated how Social Media networking is best employed by staff to the advantage of the company in sales and business development.
A number of follow-up sessions are planned for the coming weeks in collaboration with Dmax.tv. These will include practical sessions on the running of Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn for MIB staff and management.
