“As shareholders of the Ghana Business & Finance Magazine, Dmax.tv has financed the creation of the Special Malta Report as we believe it will help foster closer economic and political ties between these two fellow Commonwealth states,"  Ray de Bono

A special country profile on Malta has just been published in Ghana’s leading business magazine, the Ghana Business & Finance, of June 2014. The magazine can be seen following this link >

This 4-page, high-impact report on Malta enjoys a large captive audience. This is Ghana’s most influential business magazine and the first of its kind in the rapidly developing West African state of over 25 million people, targeting the Ghanaian business community & locally based expats which number in thousands. This glossy monthly news publication is further distributed amongst the Ghanaian diaspora in Europe, the US, Canada and Australia, as well as being available on regional African airlines.

With a foreword from Prime Minister Dr Joseph Muscat, who writes about the island’s role as a potential stepping stone between the EU and Africa, this feature provides a key focus on Malta’s Finance Centre, including an article from Kenneth Farrugia, Chairman for FinanceMalta; there is also a piece on Malta’s Tourism industry by former Minister Karmenu Vella and an article on Malta’s potential in sharing its expertise in Foreign Direct Investment promotion, penned by Dr Mario Vella, the Chairman of Malta Enterprise.

There are many occasions for Maltese and Ghanaian businesses to create opportunities for closer cooperation. Maltese exporters stand to win access to a developing market, with a growing, well-educated and English speaking middle class, whilst Ghanaian counterparts can explore the advantages of the Maltese and the extensive EU market. Ghanaian students seeking higher learning opportunities at the University of Malta, and particularly at the Institute for Tourism Studies, can share Malta’s excellent track record in the Hospitality sector.  Whilst the two countries still have no Double Taxation treaties in place, one hopes that there will also be the opportunity of developing ties in the finance industry, another area where Malta can serve as a great asset for Ghana & the Economic Community of West African States region in the near future.

Being featured in an important West African publication, this report carries a lot of significance ahead of the 2015 hosting of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Malta.  “I am looking forward to welcoming my African colleagues next year on the occasion of the 24th CHOGM. I will certainly seize the opportunity to discuss concrete ways and means of strengthening economic cooperation to our mutual advantage,” Prime Minister Dr Joseph Muscat wrote.

The publication has a strong Maltese connection, as the CEO of the Maltese-German firm Dmax.tv, Ray de Bono, is also a feature editor and a member of the GB&F editorial committee. “Malta may be small in geographical terms, but it has the talent and the acumen to create business opportunities that hold no geographical barriers”.

“As shareholders of the Ghana Business & Finance Magazine, Dmax.tv has financed the creation of the Special Malta Report as they believe it will help foster closer economic and political ties between these two fellow Commonwealth states," he added.
